Dr. Rafael Bustamante

Dr. Bustamante's trek into the heart of dentistry began at the University of Lethbridge, where he dove deep into the world of Biochemistry back in the year 2000. Fast forward four years, and he's walking out of the University of Alberta, not just with a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in his pocket but with a vision that would soon reshape his approach to dentistry.

By 2005, Dr. Bustamante was pioneering the use of the dental operating microscope in his daily grind. This wasn't just an upgrade in equipment; it was a leap into a whole new philosophy of dental care, where precision isn't just a goal—it's the baseline. For him, restorative dentistry isn't just about fixing teeth; it's an odyssey, a relentless quest for perfection, where each procedure is a chance to hone his craft under the unforgiving eye of high magnification.

His passion doesn't end at the edges of a tooth. Dr. Bustamante finds his rhythm in the intricate dance of restorative dentistry, especially when wielding the Bioclear Method—a technique he doesn't just practice but preaches. He's out there, sharing the gospel of this groundbreaking approach with general dentists across the frosty expanses of Canada and in the hustle and bustle of the Bioclear Learning Center in Tacoma, Washington, shaping the future of dentistry one dentist at a time.

But his influence stretches even further, serving as an Advisor to the Board of the Pankey Institute, a bastion of advanced dental education, where enthusiastic dentists come to refine their skills, share knowledge, and discover the boundaries of what's possible in modern dental care.

Yet, beneath the busyness and achievements, Dr. Bustamante is a man of simple pleasures. A family man at heart, he savours the joys of life with the same passion he applies to his craft. Whether he's exploring the culinary landscape, cheering on his favourite soccer team, or capturing the world through the lens of his camera, he reminds us that at the end of the day, life, like dentistry, is about the moments we cherish and the details we refuse to overlook.
